Dr. Tracy Mayfield specializes in Periodontics.  This is the specialty of dentistry that includes the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the diseases of the supporting bone, connective tissue, and gums surrounding the teeth, and the replacement of lost teeth and supporting structures by grafting or placement of dental implants.

Almost 90% of adults suffer from some form of periodontal disease, and it accounts for over 70% of tooth loss among adults today.  Frequently painless, it is a disease that can be detected only by a dentist or dental hygienist.  Fortunately, it is also a disease that can usually be halted with proper treatment and care by your periodontist.  Treatment of periodontal diseases is rapidly advancing and it much more comfortable and predictable than ever before.

Dr. Mayfield attends multiple seminars annually to remain up-to-date with the latest advances in Dentistry and Periodontics.  Some of the most common procedures done in her office are: regeneration, which increases lost support around teeth due to periodontal disease; crown lengthening, which assists your restorative dentist to create healthier restoration; dental implants, which replace a single lost or many missing teeth with non-removable restorations; and cosmetic surgery, which enhances the appearance of your smile by improving the gumline.
